Editor not translator/author?
The scanning is exquisite; extremely readable. I came looking for the story of Turandot of Puccini's opera, and found it, as "The continuation of the story of Prince Khalaf and the Princess of China" which I thought much more uplifting than Puccini's version of the plot. (As promised by the preface -- nothing immoral!)
The metadata seems odd, however. It gives the author as Julia Pardoe. I didn't compare every word, but Google books provides a version of The thousand and one days a century older, with what seems to me to be an identical presentation of the story of Princess Shirrine, at least; that version is translated from French by Armand Phillips.
In any case the J.P. of the introduction does not claim to have translated the stories, just gathered them.
